York Region is proud to recognize Right to Know Week, running from September 23 to 29. This annual event is celebrated across the world and raises awareness among citizens about their right to access government information, while promoting freedom of information as essential to both democracy and good governance.
How to request personal information
You can request access to government records and personal information or correct your personal information through York Region’s Regional Clerk’s Office. Submit a request by visiting the Freedom of Information Inquiries page.
Did you know? The Regional Clerk’s Office received 298 freedom of information requests in 2023. Requests are handled under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, 1990.

You can request access to or correct your personal health information through the Region’s Community and Health Services (CHS) Privacy Office. Make a request by visiting the Personal Health Information Protection Act page.
Did you know? The CHS Privacy Office received 1,051 requests for personal health information in 2023. Requests are handled under the Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004.
