Forests Ontario Take Root Program

Take Root, a Region-wide native tree and plant sale is being piloted in collaboration with Forests Ontario.
York Region residents can still purchase native trees and perennial wildflower kits at a reduced cost. Trees cost $10 each and perennial wildflower kits cost $15 each, taxes are included. Purchases are limited to five (5) trees and two (2) perennial wildflower kits per York Region household. Thirteen different tree species are available to choose from and the perennial wildflower kits contain two plants of five different species.
Supplies are limited and can be ordered before Friday, May 31 at 12 p.m.
Pick up location and time is:
- Sunday, June 2, 2024 – 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the McCleary Court Community Environmental Centre, 130 McCleary Court in the City of Vaughan
After registration and payment is received by Forests Ontario, a confirmation email will be sent including the designated pick-up location and time. Proof of payment will be required upon pickup.
A planting guide with step-by-step instructions how to plant and care for your tree(s) and/or perennial wildflowers will be provided. Choosing to plant native means trees are well-adapted to the local climate and they will have the best chance at survival. They also provide food and shelter for local wildlife.
