Donald Cousens Parkway Intersection Improvements
York Region is improving Donald Cousens Parkway intersections at 14th Avenue and Copper Creek Drive in the City of Markham. Improvements will support the future South York Greenway active transportation route, crossing over 50 kilometres in the Cities of Vaughan, Richmond Hill and Markham. This route will give travellers options to walk, cycle and use other forms of active transportation to reach trails, transit terminals and other community destinations.
Duration: Summer 2024 to Fall 2024

Intersection improvements
- Rebuilding existing traffic signals and upgrading the intersection to meet Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act requirements
- Enhancing streetscaping features to promote walking, cycling and transit use, including pavement markings to enhance crosswalk visibility and allow cyclists to legally ride through the intersection
Intersection improvements are funded by York Region and Parks Canada.
Traffic impacts during construction
- Temporary lane reductions weekdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Access for emergency vehicles and to homes and businesses will be maintained
