Retaining wall replacement on Wellington Street
Transportation improvements prepare York Region to meet the needs of motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and transit users today and into the future. York Region is replacing a retaining wall supporting the sidewalk on the north side of Wellington Street, west of Leslie Street.
Duration: June 2024 to Late-October 2024
Description:
York Region replacing a retaining wall supporting the sidewalk on the north side of Wellington Street, west of Leslie Street in the Town of Aurora.
Impacts to travellers:
- Westbound curb lane of Wellington Street will be closed for the duration of work
- Additional lane closures will be limited to Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Pedestrians and cyclist using the multi-use path will be detoured around the work zone and cyclists are advised to dismount and walk the alternate route
- The road will remain open to through traffic; however, lane closures are required
- Access to homes and businesses will be maintained
As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
