Yonge Street, south of Mount Albert Road

Transportation improvements prepare York Region to meet the needs of motorists, cyclists, pedestrians and transit users today and into the future. York Region is rehabilitating the Canal Bridge located on Yonge Street between Holland Landing Road to Mount Albert Road in the Town of East Gwillimbury. The bridge allows water to pass freely under the road. A road closure is required to complete this work.

Duration: March 31, 2025 to April 26, 2025 

Road improvements:

• York Region is rehabilitating Canal Bridge on Yonge Street between Mount Albert Road and Holland Landing Road in the Town of East Gwillimbury 
• The bridge allows water to pass freely under the road
• A road closure is required to complete this work

Impacts to travellers:

• Work will occur Monday to Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Road closure

• Yonge Street, from Holland Landing Road to Mount Albert Road, will be closed from 7 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2025 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2025 to facilitate the bridge rehabilitation
• Traffic will not be able to travel through the work zone during the road closure
• Local traffic is permitted; however, those with properties to the south of the bridge can only access Yonge Street from Holland Landing Road and those to the north, only from Mount Albert Road

As with all construction projects, work may be rescheduled due to weather. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
