Non-Potable Groundwater Requests
The Ministry of Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP) has non-potable site condition standards intended for use at properties where municipal drinking water is available and there are no wells located in the area. This ensures the application of standards do not pose a risk to local water supplies.
Non-potable requests may be on lands where industrial or commercial activity took place, such as factories, gas stations or where spills have occurred, which may need to be cleaned up before they can be redeveloped.
When commercial or industrial property is being redeveloped for more sensitive use, such as residential development, property owners are required to notify York Region under Ontario Regulation 153/04, section 35 of their intent to use non-potable site condition standards.
