Cloth Diaper Rebate
Terms and Conditions
The Cloth Diaper Rebate Pilot Program (the “Rebate”) is available to eligible residents of York Region to help offset the cost of the purchase of cloth diapers or the cost of a cloth diaper rental service in order to reduce waste.
A one-time rebate of $100 (CAD) is available per household with a child requiring diapers. The Rebate is only available on purchases of $100 (CAD) or more for cloth diapers or a cloth diaper rental service, and purchases must have been made in the 2023 or 2024 calendar year. Only one application per household will be accepted. For clarity, even if a household has two or more children requiring diapers, only one application per household will be accepted. There are fifty (50) $100 (CAD) rebates available. Complete applications from eligible applicants will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis and while supplies last. The rebate is offered on a one-time basis and will not be renewed annually.
Eligibility
To be eligible for the Rebate, an Applicant must:

be 18 years of age or older and reside in one of the nine local municipalities within York Region - Cities of Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Towns of Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Georgina, Newmarket, Whitchurch-Stouffville or Township of King;

reside in a household with at least one child under the age of 18 requiring diapers;

participate in the local municipal blue box recycling program, green bin organics program, leaf and yard waste collection program, or waste diversion programs available in their multi-residential building, as applicable;

have purchased and spent a minimum amount of $100 (CAD) including tax on reusable cloth diapers or a reusable diaper rental service in the 2023 or 2024 calendar year;

submit a copy of a valid dated store receipt(s), itemized with cost breakdowns for the reusable diapers or reusable diaper rental service (receipts predating 2023 will not be considered)

agree to the Terms and Conditions of the cloth diaper rebate program and certify that the information in the application is true

submit a complete application form including a copy of the dated, itemized sale receipt(s) (receipts predating 2023 will not be considered)
The Applicant’s information submitted on the application form will be used to determine eligibility for the Rebate, provide the rebate cheque, and/or to contact the Applicant if any clarification is needed in order to process the application.
Applicant’s Responsibility
Each Applicant shall, and by signing this application agrees to, assume all responsibility for the use of the reusable diapers or reusable diaper rental service.
Conditions and Terms of Payment
The conditions and terms of payment for the Rebate are as follows:

No payment of a Rebate under this program shall be made unless a program application has been completed and approved at the discretion of The Regional Municipality of York (York Region) and in accordance with these Terms and Conditions

Once York Region has processed the Applicant’s application, the Applicant will be notified of the results of their application by email

For successful eligible Applicants, the Rebate payment will be in the form of a cheque payable to the Applicant and will be mailed to the mailing address provided on the application form

The dollar amount of the Rebate shall not exceed a maximum of $100 (CAD)

Each Applicant that has received a rebate shall reimburse York Region where:
(1) the reusable diaper(s) have been returned to the point of purchase for cash or credit refund, or
(2) the reusable diaper rental service has been cancelled and costs reimbursed to the Applicant before the services have been received.
Please allow at least eight (8) weeks for your application to be processed.
Certification and Release of Liability
By submitting this application, the Applicant agrees to release and indemnify and defend The Regional Municipality of York (York Region), its Chair, Council members, employees, agents, successors and assigns (the Releases) from any and all liability, including liability for negligence, claims, actions, demands, costs, expenses, losses or injury of any kind or nature whatsoever, whether for personal injury, illness, and whether arising in law, equity, or in any other manner relating in any way to the Cloth Diaper Rebate Pilot Program.
By submitting this application, the Applicant certifies that the information, statements and representations given in this application and any accompanying materials are true, accurate and complete in all respects. By submitting this application, the Applicant certifies it understands that any false or deceptive information, statement or representation given in this application and any accompanying materials may result in the rejection or revocation of this application and any approval thereof and immediate demand by York Region for full repayment of any rebate paid by York Region. In addition to any other civil remedies available to York Region, the Applicant agrees that it shall immediately repay York Region all rebate monies paid and shall indemnify York Region for any and all costs it may incur by reason of the giving or making such false or deceptive information, statement or misrepresentation in this application and any accompanying materials.
Rights Reserved
York Region reserves the right, in its sole discretion to cancel or suspend this Cloth Diaper Rebate Pilot Program should fraud, virus, bugs or other causes beyond the control of York Region corrupt the administration, security or proper administration of the Cloth Diaper Rebate Pilot Program. With respect to computer applications, York Region is not responsible for computer systems, phone lines, hardware, software or program malfunctions or other errors, failures or delays in computer transmissions or network connections that are human or technical in nature.
Privacy Statement
York Region protects the personal information provided to us in accordance with applicable privacy laws. "Personal information" is information that can be uniquely identified with you, such as your full name and phone number for the purposes of administering your application for the Cloth Diaper Rebate Pilot Program.
York Region is collecting personal information solely for the purposes of processing your application and administering the Cloth Diaper Rebate Pilot Program. Information collected for the purposes of the program will be handled in accordance with the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, R.S.O. 1990, c.M.56.
Your knowledge and consent are required for the collection, use or disclosure of personal information about you. By submitting an application, you are agreeing to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information by York Region.
York Region will limit the collection and use of both the amount and the type of personal information to that which is necessary for the identified purposes, to ensure compliance with this privacy policy as it applies to the program and to preserve the integrity of the program database, or to comply with applicable laws and/or regulations.
