The future of learning is coming to York Region
York University’s newest campus in The City of Markham will embed the University in the heart of one of the most diverse and dynamic urban communities in Ontario. Academic programs and research will reflect York Region’s local economy, revolving around the core themes of technology and entrepreneurship and how they are driving innovation across all areas of knowledge and society.
Opening Spring 2024
Construction of the new campus is well underway, with an expected completion date of Spring 2024.
York University will welcome its first cohort of Markham Campus students in 2023 through select Markham programs delivered at the University’s state-of-the-art Learning Space in the world-class IBM Canada headquarters.
Campus Features
Physically, Markham Campus will accommodate 4,200 students and is being designed to facilitate collaboration between programs and faculties. This will promote unexpected connections, bringing people together to create positive change.
Features include:
- Modern and accessible common areas offer plenty of space to meet, study and collaborate with large and small groups
- Ten floors of teaching and learning spaces are clustered around a dynamic, multi-story atrium — the Bratty Family Atrium
- A multi-faith space, Indigenous learning circle and enhanced accessibility features create a welcoming environment
