Notice of Construction for West Vaughan Sewage Servicing - Highway 7 and Highway 27

The Regional Municipality of York is building a new 11-kilometre gravity sewer pipe in the City of Vaughan to provide sustainable wastewater servicing and accommodate future growth. The new gravity sewer pipe will be installed by a tunnelling process, requiring construction compounds at the intersection of Highway 27 and Highway 7. Construction compounds will be enclosed to minimize disruptions, noise and dust; most work will occur underground.

Duration: August 2024 to late fall 2029

Impacts

  • Access to all businesses and homes will be maintained; there is no planned impact to water or wastewater services
  • Highway 27 and Highway 7 intersection will remain open to traffic; however, the dedicated northbound right turning ramp from Highway 27 will be closed; expect periodic delays; the speed limit in the area will be reduced
  • General working hours are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; overnight and weekend work will happen as needed and advance notice will be provided
  • Due to the nature of work, there will be additional construction vehicles will be in the area; a dedicated trucking route has been identified; there will be periodic delays and lane restrictions due to the movement of construction vehicles
  • Pedestrians are advised to follow directional signs as temporary sidewalks and detours will be in place around the construction compound

As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other conditions. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
