Construction starts on new 2-kilometre sewer in Vaughan

Northeast Vaughan Wastewater Servicing, Keele Street and Langstaff Road Trunk Sewer

The Regional Municipality of York is building a new 2-kilometre sewer along Keele Street, between Rutherford Road and Langstaff Road in the City of Vaughan. The new sewer is needed to provide additional wastewater servicing to the northeast Vaughan area.

Duration: Summer 2024 to winter 2026

Impacts

  • Access to all homes and businesses will be maintained. There will be no planned impact to water or wastewater services
  • As part of the work, York Region is conducting a pre-construction survey to record the existing interior and exterior conditions of the properties and buildings near the work area
  • Work will occur between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., Monday to Friday with periodic overnight work; additional information regarding overnight or weekend work will be provided
  • Work areas will be enclosed to limit access and reduce any disturbances. Due to the nature of the work, there will be additional construction vehicles in the area
  • Temporary lane restrictions along Keele Street and Langstaff Road around the work areas; flag persons and YRP paid-duty officers will be on-site as needed to help with the flow of traffic
  • Pedestrians are advised to follow directional signs
  • A portion of the Bartley Smith Greenway Trail in Langstaff Park will be closed for the duration of the work
  • York Region Transit (YRT) service will continue; riders can call the YRT Contact Centre at 1-866-668-3978 or visit yrt.ca for more information
  • As with all construction projects, some work may be re-scheduled due to weather or other conditions. York Region will provide advance notice where possible
