City of Vaughan
Description
- The Regional Municipality of York is building a new 11-kilometre gravity sewer pipe in the City of Vaughan to provide sustainable wastewater servicing and accommodate future growth
- The new gravity sewer pipe will be installed by a tunnelling process, requiring a construction compound on Highway 27, south of Martin Grove Road
- The construction compound will be enclosed to minimize disruptions, noise and dust; most work will occur underground
- General working hours are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; overnight and weekend work will happen as needed and advance notice will be provided
Duration: September 2024 to late fall 2029
Impacts
- Access to all businesses and homes will be maintained; there is no planned impact to water or wastewater services
- Highway 27 will remain open to traffic; the speed limit in the area will be reduced
- Due to the nature of work, there will be additional construction vehicles; a dedicated trucking route has been identified and there will be periodic delays due to the movement of construction vehicles
- There will be construction-related noise and dust, though every effort to minimize it will be made As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other conditions. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
