West Vaughan Sewage Servicing
August 07, 2024
Description
- Building a new 11-kilometre gravity sewer pipe between Rutherford Road, Highway 27, Islington Avenue and Steeles Avenue West in the City of Vaughan
- The new gravity sewer pipe will be installed by a tunnelling process, requiring construction of eight construction compounds
- Construction compounds are temporary work areas, where tunnel boring machines are launched or received
- Compounds will be enclosed to limit disturbances, noise and dust; most of the work will occur underground
Duration
August 2024 to fall 2029
- General working hours are Monday to Friday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; overnight and weekend work will happen as required and advance notice will be provided
Impacts
- Access to all homes will be maintained; there is no planned impact to water or wastewater services
- There will be temporary lane closures, traffic changes and turning restrictions; advance notice will be provided; flag persons and York Regional Police (YRP) paid-duty officers will be on-site as needed
- There will be construction vehicles in the area; a dedicated trucking route has been identified and truck traffic will be controlled to reduce disruption
- There will be construction-related noise and dust and every effort to minimize this will be made
- Pedestrians are advised to follow directional signs as temporary sidewalks will be in place, as needed, around the work areas
- Select trees and other greenery may need to be removed to accommodate construction areas; when the work is complete, the areas impacted will be restored and trees and other vegetation native to the area will be planted
- York Region may conduct a pre-construction survey to record existing interior and exterior conditions of properties
As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other conditions. York Region will provide advance notice where possible. For more information, visit york.ca/westvaughan.
