Newmarket – The Regional Municipality of York is inviting members of the media to attend the York Regional Forest’s 100th Anniversary celebration and ceremonial tree planting at Hollidge Tract of the York Regional Forest.

What: 

The York Regional Forest you know and love today has flourished for over 100 years. To commemorate this centennial anniversary, York Region is planting ceremonial trees and guiding a forest walk. The event will open with smudging, a drum song, prayer and tobacco offering.

Trees will be planted on behalf of York Region, the Province of Ontario and the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation.
