York Region releases Year 1 (2023) Progress Report on 2023 to 2027 Strategic Plan
Newmarket – The Regional Municipality of York released its Year 1 (2023) Progress Report on the 2023 to 2027 Strategic Plan, demonstrating progress in York Region’s four priorities over this term of Regional Council.
In 2023, 34 of 48 performance measures, representing 71%, were trending in the desired direction.
“The Region is making significant progress in our priorities and objectives in this strategic plan, including increasing transit ridership, electrification of the York Region Transit and corporate fleets, developing community housing and enhancing road safety across all nine cities and towns,” said York Region Chairman and CEO Wayne Emmerson. “These accomplishments demonstrate our collaborative efforts and commitment to ensuring York Region remains an outstanding place to live, work and play.”
The 2023 to 2027 Strategic Plan provides a detailed course of action over the term of Council. It represents the Region’s commitment to making progress on four priorities:
- Foster economic prosperity
- Support community well-being
- Drive environmental stewardship
- Efficiently deliver trusted services
In February 2023, Regional Council approved the 2023 to 2027 Strategic Plan – From Vision to Results in alignment with the 2023 to 2026 Regional Budget. The plan is tracked, measured and reported annually to ensure progress is made on the priorities set over the term of Council.
“Over the long term, strategic focus is required to maintain a high quality of life in York Region,” said King Township Mayor Steve Pellegrini, Chair of Finance and Administration. “This plan sets out the critical steps needed for the Region to work towards reaching Council’s Vision for our communities.”
