York Region is home to people from all cultures, races, ethnicities, languages, religions, abilities, ages, and sexual orientations. The Inclusion Charter for York Region outlines the Region’s commitment to creating welcoming and inclusive communities for all who work, live and play here. Our diversity is our strength, and we are proud to recognize and celebrate all dimensions of diversity.
Pride Month is celebrated every June with various events taking place across the globe to recognize the 2SLGBTQI+ community. Pride Month is an opportunity to mark the history, diversity, contributions, and resiliency of the 2SLGBTQI+ community and uplift their voices.
The Region's 2SLGBTQI+ communities are an integral part of what makes the Region strong and vibrant. We are proud to recognize and celebrate the 2SLGBTQI+ community throughout the month of June.
To kick-off Pride Month celebrations on Monday, June 3, the Progressive Pride Flag will be raised at York Region Paramedic Services Headquarters and the Clock Tower at 17250 Yonge Street will illuminated in Pride colours to celebrate York Region's 2SLGBTQI+ community. Residents will also see York Region paramedics and employees walking in the York Pride Parade on Saturday, June 15.
This June, all York Region residents are encouraged to show support and have fun!
