York Region Celebrates Canada Day
Today, residents across our communities celebrate Canada’s 157th birthday, acknowledging the wonderful country we call home and the many diverse people we share it with.
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, I extend best wishes to those celebrating Canada Day.
The anniversary of our nation is a moment to rejoice in our diversity and acknowledge the remarkable strides and accomplishments of our country. It’s also a chance to express solidarity with our Indigenous allies and all fellow Canadians, pledging to actively listen and confront the truths of our shared past with sincerity and humility.
Whether opting to celebrate Canada Day or not, citizens are urged to mark July 1st as an occasion for introspection and examination of Canadian identity, and to stand alongside those who have called this land home for varying spans of time.
Whether coming together in communities, enjoying the company of loved ones or celebrating in festivities like barbecues and fireworks, let's recognize this significant day with reverence for our past and a commitment to forging a more inclusive future.
Happy Canada Day to all residents of York Region. Thank you for your continued efforts to build strong, caring, safe communities for all.
