Fall in love with the York Regional Forest this fall
Fall is a beautiful time to experience the magic of the York Regional Forest as it transforms into a vibrant display of reds, yellows and oranges.
Visiting the Forest on your own or with family or friends, provides the perfect place to be active, enjoy fresh air and connect with nature which is so good for our body and mind:
- Walking, hiking and biking along the trails can improve cardiovascular fitness, improve sleep, decrease blood pressure, stress, the risk of diabetes and other chronic diseases
- Being amongst trees, plants and blue skies can decrease brain fatigue, enhance the five senses, improve memory and decision-making ability, and increase mental sharpness and creativity
- Connecting with others outdoors supports cognitive and emotional health
There are over 22 public Forest tracts located in different parts of the Region. With over 150 kilometres of scenic trails, including almost 7 kilometres that are accessible to wheelchairs, strollers and other assistive devices, there is something for everyone to enjoy.
Accessible trails are wider, clear of large obstructions and graded for ease-of-movement. They loop through a variety of landscapes and are between 1.5 to 2 kilometres. Dogs are welcome but must remain on-leash at all times. Accessible parking is available.
