York Region recognizes National Day of Remembrance for Victims of Air Disasters
Today, on the third anniversary of the tragic and unnecessary crash of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, The Regional Municipality of York remembers the 176 lives lost, including 57 Canadians, 26 York Region residents and a member of our York Region family, Bahareh Karami. York Region also honours the lives of all victims of air disasters on this National Day of Remembrance.
Air disasters have taken the lives of too many Canadians and left too many families across our communities without loved ones. This includes the victims of Ukraine International Airlines Flight 752, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, Air India Flight 280, Air Ontario Flight 1363 and other smaller crashes.
The victims of these aviation disasters include parents, young children, professionals, students and newlyweds who all had their lives cut short.
On behalf of York Regional Council, I offer our deepest condolences to all those who lost loved ones due to air disasters. Today, and every day, we will always remember these tragedies and those who were lost.
