The Broadband Strategy Advisory Task Force meeting was called to order at 9:03 a.m. on October 4, 2017.

1. Meeting Objectives and Overview
Dino Basso, Commissioner of Corporate Services, provided a recap of the Broadband Strategy Advisory Task Force meetings which have taken place since the end of 2015.

2. Broadband Strategy Updates
The Task Force recommends receipt of the presentation by Doug Lindeblom, Director of Economic Strategy regarding Broadband Strategy Updates on the following topics:
- York Telecom Network Implementation
- YTN Board of Directors
• Regional Chair Emmerson is the first Director to be named to the YTN Telecom Network Board, and the balance of the membership needs to be determined
• Task Force members are asked to advise the Regional Chairman if they are interested in becoming a member of the YTN Board
- Connect to Innovate Status
• A Connect to Innovate funding application has been submitted that, if successful, would double the current YTN footprint
• Funding partners are Southlake Community Broadband Network in Georgina and The Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation
- Intelligent Community Forum (ICF) Smart 21 Award Nomination
• The Region has made a submission to be recognized as an ICF Smart 21 community
- 2017 York Region Broadband & Innovation Summit

The Task Force recommends receipt of the overview provided by Dino Basso, Commissioner of Corporate Services regarding the York Region Broadband Strategy Advisory Task Force Terms of Reference.

4. Ron Pickett
Ron Pickett, President of RDM Management Group addressed the Task Force to offer congratulations on the progress that has been made regarding YTN.
5. Continued External Input
Regional Chair Emmerson indicated that continued input from external parties is welcomed in the future.
