Social Procurement Survey for Suppliers
York Region is building on its commitment to social procurement, currently embedded in the Procurement Bylaw 2021-103 (Section 25), to maximize benefits to serve our thriving communities – today and tomorrow.
What is Social Procurement?
Public procurement traditionally aims to ensure that York Region's needs for goods and services are met while achieving value for money. Social procurement includes social, environmental and economic components to increase positive social value outcomes. These positive social value outcomes can advance and support:
- Economic reconciliation with Indigenous peoples
- Addressing economic disadvantages and barriers to equal opportunity
- Diversity and inclusion
- Socially responsible business conduct
- Small and medium businesses, social enterprises and social purpose organizations
- Increased market competition
- Environmental sustainability goals
Provide Your Input on Social Procurement
York Region is encouraging businesses, regardless of size and background, to provide input into the development of the Region’s future social procurement framework by completing a short survey.
The Social Procurement Survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will be open until December 20, 2024.
Survey results will help identify procurement opportunities and gather information on barriers, needs and interests. The results will inform the gradual introduction of social procurement practices into York Region’s procurements.
