Happy Holidays from The Regional Municipality of York
The Regional Municipality of York is pleased to extend warmest wishes to all York Region residents celebrating this holiday season.
As one of the most diverse communities in Canada, York Region is home to residents who speak 120 different languages and represent 238 distinct ethnic origins. Across our communities, many faiths are practiced, and a variety of religious and cultural holidays are celebrated.
In December alone, the Jewish community celebrates Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights, Buddhists observe Bodhi Day, Christians celebrate Advent and Christmas, many residents of African descent celebrate Kwanzaa, Pagans and Wiccans observe Yule and the Winter Solstice, Latin Americans recognize Las Posadas and Zoroastrians mark the death of the prophet Zarathushtra.
Regardless of faith or tradition, this special time of year offers an opportunity to gather with loved ones, celebrate and learn more about the rich cultural and religious diversity that makes York Region so unique.
The holiday season is also a time for reflection, gratitude and joy and an opportunity to look back on the past year and embrace the spirit of unity and community that defines our Region. Together, we have faced challenges and celebrated successes, strengthening our collective resolve to build vibrant and resilient communities for all.
Thank you for being an integral part of what makes York Region so special. May the coming year bring prosperity, good health and countless moments of happiness to you and your loved ones.
