Opening Remarks from Regional Chairman
1. Regional Chair Emmerson made the following remarks:
“I would like to begin today’s meeting by acknowledging that York Region extends over lands originally used and occupied by Indigenous Peoples, and on behalf of York Region, I would like to thank First Nations and the Métis for sharing this land.
I would also like to acknowledge the Chippewas of Georgina Island First Nation as our closest First Nation community.”

Committee of the Whole recommends receipt and referral to staff of the deputation by Councillor Marilyn Iafrate, City of Vaughan requesting consideration of the Region enacting a prohibition on U-Turns on Major Mackenzie, west of Dufferin Street in the City of Vaughan.
3. Requesting Traffic Signals - Mosque Gate and Teston Road, City of Vaughan
Committee of the Whole recommends receipt and referral to staff of the deputation by Karim Tahir, on behalf of Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Canada, regarding a request to install traffic signals at Mosque Gate and Teston Road in the City of Vaughan.

Committee of the Whole recommends adoption of the confidential recommendation contained in the confidential report of the Commissioner of Environmental Services, dated September 26, 2017 and that the report be forwarded for consideration at Council’s private session on October 19, 2017.
