Plastic Flower Pot
When buying potted plants ask the garden centre if they take them back to reuse/recycle. Plastic flower pots that are not black and less than nine inches in diameter can go in the blue box. Anything larger, please place it in the garbage. If the flower pot is black plastic please place in the garbage.

This item is Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) and can be taken to a HHW depot or community drop off for proper recycling and disposal. All HHW should be in original containers and well-marked. Containers are not returnable. Do not mix products. Residents may drop off up to 60L of HHW and 20 fluorescent tubes per day at York Region HHW Depots.

Fireworks/Road Flares
Place all used or unused fireworks and sparklers in a bucket of water. Soak them thoroughly overnight. Drain the water and put the sparklers and fireworks in the garbage.

Items in good condition can be donated. Acceptance of items is at the discretion of the charity. Damaged items can be disposed as garbage for a fee at select York Region Waste Facilities. Curbside collection may also be available. Check with your local municipality for more information.

Roots/Stumps
Root Balls: Must be no larger than 2 feet by 2 feet. Please bring to Georgina Transfer Station and dispose of as garbage for a fee. Please contact a private waste disposal company for root balls larger than 2 feet by 2 feet.
Tree Stumps: Stumps must be cut down into one foot sections (max), have no rocks or soil attached, and brought to McCleary Court CEC, Richmond Hill Compost or Georgina Transfer Station to be disposed of as yard waste (for a fee). Tree stumps no larger than 2 feet in length and 1 foot in diameter may be disposed of as garbage (for a fee) at Georgina Transfer Station. Please contact a private waste disposal company for larger tree stumps.
