The Home Visiting Program is a free program where Public Health nurses are available to visit to young, first-time moms during their pregnancy and the first two years of their child’s life in the privacy of their own homes through the Nurse-Family Partnership® (NFP).
The program can help ensure women:
- Have a healthy pregnancy
- Have healthy children
- Meet school and/or work goals
Who can participate?
You can enroll if you are:
- Under 25 years of age
- Pregnant with your first child and/or first-time parenting
- Pregnant 28 weeks or less
- Experiencing financial hardship or limited access to resources
What will you talk about during your home visits?
- Ways to have a healthy pregnancy and baby
- How to develop your parenting skills
- Ways to build a strong network of support for you and your baby
- Goal setting for the future Ways to support you as a mother while creating a safe and nurturing environment for you and your baby
- Which community resources are available to you and how to connect with those that align with your needs and wants
- Building life skills such as budgeting, managing stress and preparing healthy meals
