100th Anniversary of the Enactment of the Chinese Exclusion Act
2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the Chinese Immigration Act, better known as the Chinese Exclusion Act of 1923. For decades, this act restricted virtually all Chinese immigration to Canada. Although the act was repealed in 1947, its impact has spanned generations and continues to impact Chinese Canadian today.
On Friday, June 23, 2023, the Action! Chinese Canadians Together (ACCT), is hosting a viewing party of the National Remembrance of the 100th Anniversary of the Chinese Exclusion Act.
Residents across York Region are invited to join us online and recognize the longstanding relationship between Chinese Canadians and Indigenous Peoples in Canada, to enhance a sense of pride and belonging and to take action against racism.
