York Region announces fourth year of funding for non-profit organizations
Non-profit organizations are invited to complete a preliminary application form online for potential funding from the Region’s Circular Economy Initiatives Fund by 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, June 16, 2024.
Since its launch in 2021, York Region’s Circular Economy Initiatives Fund (CEIF) has awarded more than $275,000 in funding to 17 organizations. Projects included reuse and repair initiatives, development of an online directory for local share, reuse, and repair opportunities, youth education programs, waste reduction and organics recycling, and a food rescue program.
This year, CEIF is once again offering between $5,000 to $25,000 in funding to non-profit organizations for community-driven, innovative projects that reduce residential waste and advance the circular economy in York Region.
A circular economy eliminates waste and pollution, and conserves resources. It is a shift from a throw-away to a circular mindset to extend the lifecycle of goods, food and resources through better design and continuous reuse, so nothing goes to waste.
The Region will contact applicants who meet the pre-qualifying criteria and invite them to submit a Detailed Application.
Once detailed applications are reviewed, successful applicants will be contacted in October 2024 and will receive between $5,000 and $25,000 in funding to start projects in January 2025.
