York Region opens community violence prevention funding opportunity for resident-led groups
Are you part of a Richmond Hill, Newmarket, Markham, Georgina or Vaughan resident group seeking to make our communities safer?
York Region invites resident-led groups, under the trusteeship of an incorporated non-profit partner organization, to apply for up to $4,000 in funding to support community events, art projects and other creative initiatives to prevent violence.
Proposed projects can be linked to mental health, housing and economic stability or supporting Indigenous, Black, female, 2SLGBTQI+ youth, youth immigrants or refugee claimants six to 26 years of age.
Applications from resident-led groups are evaluated on an ongoing basis until September 30, 2024, or until all funds have been distributed.
York Region Community Violence Prevention Funding supports the implementation of the Region’s Community Safety and Well-Being (CSWB) Plan by building community capacity to undertake proactive and targeted community-based and culturally appropriate initiatives.
