Notice of Temporary Lane Restriction on 16th Avenue
The Regional Municipality of York is in the final stages of rehabilitating a 1.5 km section of the York Durham Sewage System (YDSS) on 16th Avenue in the City of Markham. A temporary westbound lane restriction on 16th Avenue at Elizabeth Street is needed to remove the temporary sewage bypass and restore the area.
Duration: June 14 to August 14, 2024
Westbound lanes will be restricted from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Impacts
- 16th Avenue will remain open to through traffic; however, a temporary lane restriction is required during non-peak hours
- Access to all businesses will be maintained and there are no planned impacts to your water or wastewater services
- York Region Transit (YRT) service along 16th Avenue will continue; call the YRT Contact Centre at 1-866-668-3978 or visit yrt.ca for more information
- Pedestrians are advised to follow directional signs
As with all construction projects, some work may be rescheduled due to weather or other conditions. York Region will provide advance notice where possible.
