Environmental Land Conservation
York Region coordinates and partners with environmental land conservation organizations, such as the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) and Oak Ridges Moraine Land Trust (ORMLT), to offer York Region landowners the opportunity to protect environmentally important land through:
- Easements
- Donations
- Bequests
More than 1,300 hectares of land have been protected since 2001.
Landowners who participate in a land conservation program through York Region have the opportunity to:
- Protect environmentally important lands, natural corridors and linkages
- Leave a legacy for future generations
- Receive tax benefits
