York Region celebrates physicians and first responders
On behalf of York Regional Council and The Regional Municipality of York, it is with great pride I recognize May 1, 2023, as National Physicians Day and First Responders Day.
Physicians and first responders are incredible individuals who dedicate their lives to public service to protect the health and safety of our residents.
Paramedics, police officers, firefighters, nurses, doctors, military personnel, dispatchers, personal support workers and all emergency responders face challenging and often dangerous situations when providing life-saving assistance to those in need.
Today, we recognize the dedication and tireless work of our physicians and first responders and celebrate their expertise and dedication to community care. At the same time, we honour the memory of the heroes we have lost in the line of duty. Despite the many risks that come with front-line service, the physicians and first responders who serve our communities remain on alert and on call, prepared to help us when we need them.
Every day, these community heroes demonstrate that a life of service is not just what they do – it is who they are. For that, we owe them our gratitude and thanks.
On behalf of more than 1.2 million York Region residents who know you will be there in a time of need, thank you to our physicians and first responders for your commitment to keeping our communities strong, healthy and safe.
