Be a Hero Head Shave Event
On Saturday, April 22, 2023, York Region Paramedic Services, alongside York Region Transit Enforcement, York Regional Police and Central York Fire Services, participated in the Be a Hero Head Shave.
The event, which took place at Upper Canada Mall, raised money for Southlake’s Paediatric Oncology Clinic. This year, the Be a Hero Head Shave exceeded their fundraising goal and raised $100,135 in support against childhood cancer.
More than 30 people had their heads shaved to support this great cause, including York Region Paramedic Services Chief, Chris Spearen, Deputy Chief Jeremy Watts and Primary Care Paramedic Brent Summers. They were also joined by York Region Transit Enforcement staff members, including Manager of Enforcement & Security, Ryan Keay, Shift Supervisors, Neil Endicott, Jess Mynttinen and James Sully, and staff members, James Bedford, Mike Carslake and Matthew Corbett.
Supporting funding for this clinic helps Southlake provide vital care for thousands of young patients in York Region communities.
