York Region wins 2023 Goodman Award for Excellence in Strategy

The Regional Municipality of York has received the 2023 Goodman Award for Excellence in Strategy from the International Association for Strategy Professionals. This global recognition is given to organizations that demonstrate outstanding strategic thinking, innovation and overall excellence in strategic planning. 

We believe that effective strategy is more than just planning; it's a commitment to ensuring that every action we take contributes to the well-being of our community. At York Region we are guided by Vision and the 2023 to 2027 Strategic Plan, which together form the roadmap that sets the Region's priorities and activities. These plans align with the Multi-Year Budget, ensuring appropriate financial planning is undertaken while delivering on York Regional Council’s commitments. 

What is the Strategic Plan?

To put it simply, the Strategic Plan is the roadmap that guides our activities in providing residents with high-quality programs and services. It contains specific, measurable, achievable and time-based objectives in alignment with four areas of focus: Economic Vitality, Healthy Communities, Sustainable Environment and Good Government. It is also anchored in the 15 core services we offer to our community, enabling us to responding to the evolving needs of our residents.

This award places us in a distinguished group of past winners, including the United States Government Accountability Office in 2022 and the City of Vaughan in 2021. It demonstrates York Region’s dedication to innovation and strategic planning in delivering outstanding programs and services and underscores our commitment to shaping a brighter future for our residents, businesses and communities.
