Repair Café Volunteer Application

Thank you for your interest in being a volunteer for our Repair Café program. Please complete the following application form to tell us more about your interests and skills.

York Region delivers this program in partnership with NewMakeIt, a community organization based in Newmarket. You will be contacted by NewMakeIt with details of upcoming volunteer opportunities as they become available. Your information will not be used or shared for any other purposes, and you may unsubscribe from the volunteer list at any time.

Below are descriptions for our event volunteer positions:

Fixers

All skill levels are welcome! We are looking for fixers who can fix the following:

• Small appliances
• Clothing repair/sewing
• Bicycle repair
• Electronics

Registration Team

• Greet guests and explain how the Repair Café works
• Review and have guests sign the photo and liability forms
• Maintain a list of what each guest brought
• Distribute Repair Café comment cards

Schedule Manager

• Maintain a waiting list of guests and their items pending repair
• Monitor fixing activities to identify when a fixer becomes available
• Connect guests to fixers

Information Coordinator

• Collect Repair Café ballot cards
• Promote volunteering opportunities for upcoming Repair Cafés
• Keep track of suggestions, inquiries and comments
