Each year the Community Report, and the accompanying Highlights document, is developed to demonstrate progress in the 2023 to 2027 Strategic Plan: From Vision to Results priorities and release detailed financial statements related to the Region’s budget and feature Regional accomplishments and awards.

Financial Statements

Detailed financial reports and data are included to demonstrate how capital, reserve and debt management help the Region achieve long-term financial sustainability. The Region’s external auditors conduct an audit of the Financial Statements using Canadian generally accepted auditing standards.

York Region’s strong financial results for 2023 show the value of prudent financial management in a changing fiscal landscape.

Budget in the Community

Highlights and infographics illustrate how tax dollars are used responsibly to provide quality services to a diverse and growing community of over 1.25 million residents living in our nine cities and towns.

Strategic Plan Update

Progress on the objectives and action plans detailed in the Strategic Plan are reported annually to ensure the Region continues to meet the needs of our residents, businesses and employees.

Achievements

Awards and achievements for committees, projects and services are included in the report to highlight recognition received from business industry and community leaders.

Guiding Principles

Annual financial reports are prepared in accordance with Canadian Public Sector Accounting Standards established by the Public Sector Accounting Board. York Region will continue to share financial plans and report on their outcomes in ways that show accountability to our residents.
